Crisis Intervention and Mediation

The Hadley Police Department is dedicated to ensuring that non-criminal matters such as mental health emergencies and emotional distress/crisis receive the appropriate attention and are dealt with in the most calm and sensitive manner as possible. Our agency is also dedicated to maintaining a staff of professionals who possess the knowledge, experience, and training to effectively engage in crisis intervention and mediation. Additionally, our department goal is to train all front-line employees, both dispatchers and police, in Crisis Intervention. In the interest of best serving those who are in crisis and/or who have a mental health diagnosis, the Hadley Police Department has mental health clinicians embedded within the police department.  This partnership provides police officers with immediate access to trained in-house clinicians for on-scene responses, follow-up care, and case consultation.

Below are some policies that specifically address our response to Crisis, as well as disputes where mediation may assist the involved parties.

Staff Sergeant Michael Romano is the Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator as well as a trained mediator.
