Conversazione with Sharon

Event Date:
Thursday, January 25, 2024 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm

This is a social gathering held for the discussion of literature.
January and February are usually our “dark months”. Let us take a page from our Swedish friends and make them months of “mys” or coziness. One way of doing this is to gather around the fireplace with warm drinks and snacks to read to each other writings that we enjoy.
In January let us celebrate winter by reading poems, essays, short stories and parts of longer books that remind us of all that winter can hold for us. Possible poems might be those written by Robert Frost about New England winters or Emily Dickinson’s “It sifts from leaden sieves”; essays such as Robert Penn Warren’s “Blackberry Winter”; writings about winter activities such as ice skating, cross-country skiing, etc. Use your Google!
Then in February let us begin to look ahead to the birth and rebirth spring brings to us by sharing writings about this season. Again, look for short(ish) works that celebrate our rising to new life in nature, humanity, spirituality, emotion, intellect, etc. Don’t be shy. If you just want to come and be a listener, we will still enjoy each other. Limited to 12.
