Disclaimer / Notes
- Plan Review Timelines: Please note that plan reviews may take up to 30 business days as allowed under 527 CMR (Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Safety Code). Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit plans well in advance to avoid project delays.
- Submitting Permits/Inspections: All items must be mailed or dropped off at the fire station. The only exception to this are Dumpster Permits and Solar/PV plan reviews and Solar/PV permits.
- Submitting Solar Permits & Plan Reviews:
- To streamline your application, you may now email all required documentation—including plan drawings, completed permits, cut sheets, and solar placards—directly to our office.
- Please note that plan reviews will not begin until a complete application package and the required fee are received and any applicable ESS onsite visits are conducted.
- The application fee must be mailed or dropped off to our station, and all emailed documents must be entirely free of errors or missing information before the review process can start.
- Scheduling Inspections: Inspections for ESS must be scheduled in advance. Work may not be covered, concealed, or placed into service until all required Fire Department inspections and approvals have been completed.
- Permit Approval Required Prior to Work: Permits and plan reviews must be approved before regulated work begins unless otherwise authorized by the Fire Chief or Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for emergency conditions.
- Fees: Applicable permit and inspection fees must be paid prior to permit issuance unless otherwise approved by the Fire Chief/AHJ.
