PARENTS & TEENS !
As part of our Student Showcase we present a special edition of our regular "LAW TALK" series:
Mary Johnson, Executive Director of the YWCA crisis center, discusses cell phones, stalking and texting issues with our teen population. Important and informative!
- runs 30 minutes
Shows Monday at 8:30 and 10:00 pm, Tuesday at 7:30 am.

MORE COVERAGE OF HADLEY 350th EVENTS:
We continue to dedicate Friday evenings to Hadley history and 350th Celebration event programming. These programs begin at 8 pm, and will normally repeat at 9 on Friday, on Saturday at Noon and 4 pm, and on Sunday at Noon.

THIS WEEK: The History of North Hadley Village Hall
Because of the uncertain future of the Hall, we take a look back at a 2002 history talk given by Miriam Pratt.
(This is not the program given by Dr. Joseph Zgrodnik as part of Hadley's Sesquicentennial. That program is still being edited, and will be shown at a later date.)
- runs 90 min
Shows Friday at 8 pm (no 9 pm repeat), Saturday at 12 & 4 pm, and Sunday at Noon. Watch for it!

Please Note: Video versions of Hadley 350th Celebration events will be presented as soon as we can get them edited and on the channel... watch our Bulletin Board for updates.
Thanks to our volunteers for getting out and shooting these events for us!

BULLETIN BOARD FANS!
We've cleared the weekday noon-time block of our programming schedule so you'll always know when you can definitely find the Community Bulletin Board. If you have a lunch break any time between 11:30 am and 1 pm Monday through Friday, now you'll be able to catch up on important news and information of interest to all Hadley residents! Normally, our Bulletin Board fills in between showings of our regularly scheduled programs. Notices of general interest run throughout, with divisions for: the TOWN of HADLEY (official town information), the PARK & REC Dep't, the SENIOR/ COMMUNITY CENTER, and the LIBRARY PAGES (specific to Goodwin Memorial Public Library).
Just for reference, notices repeat multiple times, but there's only one "Welcome to the Tv-5 Community Bulletin Board" page that starts off each cycle.

TV5 Announcements & Notices

What is Tv-5 / Public Access? Why does it exist in our town?
Public Access TV occupies an important place in every community it serves; but YOU are the most important part of Public Access!
Find answers to these questions and more at:
http://massaccess.org/Access%20FAQs.html#bookmark1
(not an active link from this page; please copy and paste into your browser)

*** BECOME A LOCAL PRODUCER ***
(It's why Public Access exists!)
If you are a resident of Hadley and you or your children have participated in a local event that you have videotaped -- from picnics to fishing contests to school graduation ceremonies -- please feel free to contact us. We would love to put it on the channel for everyone to enjoy! We can create titles and credits and get your program on the air. (Of course your original tapes will be returned to you.) We can work with Mini-DV, VHS, Hi-8 or VHS-C.

Or you can sign out Tv-5 equipment to shoot an upcoming event of interest to you and your neighbors! Some restrictions apply, and some brief instruction may be necessary so please contact us in advance for the details. You can find more information on our Community Bulletin Board (seen between programs on Charter cable channel 5.)

NOTE: 'Producer Contact' forms, 'Talent and Event Release' forms, 'Minor Talent Release' forms, as well as 'Guidelines for Shooting and Editing Video for Public Access' will all be avilable in the holders on the door of Tv-5, and shortly, as downloadable PDF files for your convenience.

Tv-5's Access Coordinator has limited hours on-site.
Please call our office, in Rm. 004 of the Hadley Senior/ Community Center, at (413) 584-1203, and leave a message to arrange an appointment.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF A CLUB, CIVIC GROUP OR ORGANIZATION IN THE HADLEY AREA?
Send us notices of your activites or events to post on our Community Bulletin Board!
- see how below -

HOW TO SUBMIT MESSAGES FOR OUR COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD:
If you would like to submit items to be posted on Tv-5's Community Bulletin Board, you may e-mail them to: tv5@charterinternet.com , or mail them to: Tv-5, Hadley Town Hall, 100 Middle Street, Hadley MA 01035. Items for posting may also be left in the holder on the door to our office, Rm. 004 in the basement of the Senior/ Community Center, 46 Middle Street, Hadley, or in the Tv-5 mailbox in Town Hall.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of short staff hours, copy for dated events must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the desired posting date, not the event date. Tv-5 is not responsible for the accuracy of information submitted for posting on the Community Bulletin Board.
Please try to limit the contents of your message to the most pertinent facts: who, what, when, where, how much, (and possibly) phone and/or web contact info. COPYRIGHT-FREE photo or graphic art is acceptable as backround for the text, if you wish to include it (via e-mail only).

*** VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ***
As always, TV-5 is looking for people to volunteer to video Hadley events, help with program scheduling, create Bulletin Board pages, or help with computer tasks. Free training is available. Volunteers should either live, work, or go to school in Hadley, but all are welcome.
Anyone interested should e-mail us at tv5@charterinternet.com.
or call 584-1203 to leave a message.
Remember, volunteering for Tv-5 qualifies towards fulfilling a student's "Community Service" requirement. Thanks!

Programming Notes

OUR CURRENT PROGRAM SCHEDULE IS POSTED BELOW (scroll down), AS WELL AS TWICE EACH CYCLE ON OUR COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD, RUNNING 24 / 7 BETWEEN ALL OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING.

Please Note: Our program schedule may change without notice. Changes will be updated as soon as possible.

Additionally ...
Because of the unreliable nature of much of our playback equipment, we may occasionally be unable to run all the programs listed in our current schedule -- so some of our regular programming may be on temporary hiatus. We will return them to our regular schedule as soon as possible. Watch our Community Bulletin Board for updates.

Taped coverage of the SCHOOL COMMITTEE will now be shown on the evening following the meetings (usually Tuesday) at 8 p.m., and repeated the following Saturday at 9 a.m. (or following the Selectboard re-play, if any).
Watch our Community Bulletin Board for details.

Submitting programming to Tv-5
If you are a Hadley resident and have a program that you'd like to have aired on TV-5 and you are the copyright holder, or have the permission of the copyright holder, we'd be glad to put it on the channel. Just send an e-mail to tv5@charterinternet.com or call 584-1203. Please note that in accordance with FCC regulations, we cannot air advertisements or solicitations to purchase, or any programming containing libelous, slanderous, or obscene material.
TECHNICAL NOTE: Because we use actual DVD decks to run our DVD programming, we must require that all DVDs submitted to us contain at least 10 seconds of BLACK video at the head (start) before the first frame of titles or images comes up. This is to allow the onscreen MENU, or commands to "PLAY" etc. to disappear before the program goes out on the cable. Similarly, we require at least 10 seconds of BLACK video at the END of the program, so that we don't immediately jump back to the DVD MENU or screensaver at the conclusion of the video. This ensures a smoother transition into and out of the program. Thank you.
