Frequently
Asked Questions:
Q. Is Hadley's library a member of the Central/Western Massachusetts Automated Resource Sharing network (C/WMARS)?
A. Yes. Hadley has been a member for many years. As of January 25, 2011, Hadley began officially circulating within the system. This major accomplishment allows patrons with C/WMARS cards to order items from the comfort of their homes and have them delivered to Hadley or other convenient libraries.
Q. Will my "old" Hadley library card number (3-4 digits) work anywhere else?
A. As of January 25, 2011, your "old" Hadley number will no longer be used for borrowing purposes. If you do not already have a C/WMARS card, please ask us for one the next time you visit. If you already have a C/WMARS card, from the Jones or Forbes, for example, you will now be able to use that card to borrow Hadley items.
Q. How can I find information about what books are in the Hadley Libraries?
A. Most of our books and videos are listed in the CWMARS catalog. Go to"www.cwmars.org," click on "Catalogs," then on "Western Massachusetts," and search for items. Or come to the library and use the online catalog. We are here to help you.
Q. CAN I BORROW BOOKS FROM OTHER LIBRARIES AND PICK THEM UP AT HADLEY?
A. Yes! You can order items directly with your C/WMARS card and password, via the consortium catalog. You can do this from any place you have internet access -- including, of course, the library. Alternatively, the library can order items for you. For your convenience, we receive deliveries from other libraries on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Q. DO YOU HAVE MUSEUM PASSES?
A. Yes, we have passes available for the following museums: Mass MOCA, Historic Deerfield, Eric Carle, Norman Rockwell, Springfield Museums, Clark Museum.
Museum passes are available on a first come, first serve basis (walk-in only) to Hadley residents with clear library records. Most passes allow entrance for 2 adults and 2 children, with the exception of the Springfield pass, which is a 1/2 price pass.
Passes circulate one per family and are due back at the beginning of the third open day.
Q. Is there a genealogy collection at the library?
A. Yes. We are working to restore, re-house, and re-catalog our historical collection. This project includes preserving books with coverings or boxes, putting our collection online, and moving the books to a more useful location. This effort is being assisted by local history consultants and library school volunteers.
