Announcement for Library Planning and Design Committee
Announcement for Library Planning and Design Committee

The Goodwin Memorial Library is seeking residents of Hadley to serve on a two-year Planning and Design Committee in conjunction with the Planning and Design grant the library received from the Commonwealth in June 2014. The charge of the Committee is to help facilitate the production of the Library Building Program, a document—based on data collected from the library staff and community—that serves as a guidebook from the Library staff and Trustees to the architect who will be responsible for creating the schematic design for the construction grant proposal required for the next step in the process. The Planning and Design Committee will also be responsible for the choosing of the Building Consultant, the Owner’s Project Manager, and the Architect required by the grant and will work with the Architect to turn the Library Planning Program into the schematic designs and plans.

The time commitment of the Committee is estimated to be the two years generally required to complete this process, with meetings rarely more often than monthly.

Membership of the Committee will consist of 10 people—2 members of the Board of Trustees, 1 member of the Friends of the Goodwin Library, 1 member of the Library staff, a liaison from the Select Board, a liaison from the Municipal Building Committee, and 4 members of the general public, ideally coming from a wide cross-section of our community (including, but not limited to, our senior population, our teen population, and families with young children).

Interested residents of Hadley should send a letter of interest to:
